Abstract
RIP (Routing Information Protocol) je najstariji usmjerivački protokol koji se primjenjuje na internetu. Razvijen je za lokalne mreže 80-ih godina i zasniva se na razašiljanju (eng. broadcast). Danas je vrlo popularan kao unutarnji protokol za usmjeravanje. RIP omogućuje usmjernicima razmjenu informacija o usmjerivačkim smjerovima unutar Internet mreže. Zasniva se na algoritmu vektora udaljenosti na način da odabire smjer sa najmanjim brojem koraka, odnosno brojem usmjernika koje paket treba proći na putu do odredišta. Najduži put unutar RIP usmjerivačke tablice može imati najviše 15 koraka. RIP protokol definira usmjerivače koji povezuju mrežu te međusobno dijele informacije o tome kako usmjeravati promet.
Abstract (english)
RIP (Routing Information Protocol) is the oldest routing protocol used on the Internet. It was developed for local area networks in the 1980s and is based on broadcasting. Today it is very popular as an internal routing protocol. RIP allows routers to exchange routing information within the Internet network. It is based on the distance vector algorithm by selecting the direction with the smallest number of steps, i.e. the number of routers that the packet should pass on the way to the destination. The longest path within a RIP routing table can have a maximum of 15 steps. The RIP protocol defines routers that connect the network and share information with each other on how to route traffic.
