For more than 40 years, the European Union has been implementing an active policy of regional development, which is also called cohesion policy or structural policy. Its main goal is to reduce development differences between countries and regions, thereby increasing the competitiveness of member states and the Union itself on the global market. The goal of EU funding is closely linked to the adopted development strategy. Today's strategy is determined by the document "Europe 2027". A detailed plan for spending EU funds, the so-called "Multiannual Financial Framework" should be drawn up as a rule once every 5 years, but in practice it is drawn up once every seven years. In the focus of this thesis, and motivated by the need to show how successful the city of Sinj is in withdrawing funds from EU funds, is a valuable capital project. It is a project called "Sinj u sridu" which in the near future with the help of European funds will reconstruct, restore and revitalize numerous cultural assets and sights of the city itself. More precisely defined, it is about the reconstruction and modernization of the City Fortress, the Kamičak Fortress, the Museum of the Cetinje Region.
