Abstract (english) | Tourism plays an important role in the growth of GDP and the economy of each country, and due to new trends in tourism, new forms of tourism are emerging, including urban (urban) tourism. This form of tourism was created due to the modern way of life, so this form of tourism is characterized by tourist arrival in cities for leisure for a few days. The subject of the final paper is the analysis of sustainable development of urban tourism on the example of the city of Rome. The city of Rome is an extremely attractive tourist destination that records an increasing number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays from year to year, but the main disadvantage is the excessive amount of garbage, mass, poor road maintenance and inadequate care for public transport. Namely, the problem of excessive amounts of garbage becomes very pronounced in the summer, when due to high temperatures it causes unpleasant odors, which is reflected in tourism. This problem has become even more topical since 2013, when the city landfill was closed because it does not meet the minimum requirements, so the waste is taken to neighboring cities for incineration. In addition to the problem of excessive waste generation in the summer months, the results of previous research conducted by Italian agencies indicate that public transport in Rome is very poor, and data have been recorded that since January 2019, more than ten city buses have burned. Due to such circumstances, ie excessive use of public transport, the government introduced a ban on tourist buses leading to the city center, all with the aim of preventing noise, environmental pollution and excessive concentration of traffic around the city center. |
