Abstract
Geotermalnom energijom se smatra dio unutarnje energije Zemlje koji u obliku vrućeg geotermalnog medija (vode ili pare) dolazi do površine i prikladan je za iskorištavanje u izvornom obliku ili za pretvorbu u druge oblike energije. U prirodi se geotermalna energija najčešće pojavljuje u obliku gejzira, vulkana i vrućih izvora. Geotermalna energija je toplinska energija koja se stvara Zemljinoj kori polaganim raspadanjem radioaktivnih elemenata, egzotermnim kemijskim reakcijama u Zemljinoj kori te trenjem pri kretanju tektonskih masa. Rezerve ove energije smatraju se skoro neiscrpnim. Toplina u unutrašnjosti Zemlje rezultat je formiranja planeta iz prašine i plinova prije više od 4 milijarde godina, a radioaktivno raspadanje elemenata u stijenama kontinuirano regenerira tu toplinu pa se prema tome geotermalna energija može smatrati obnovljivim izvorom energije. Od svih lokacija u Republici Hrvatskoj panonski dio ima potencijal što se tiče iskorištavanja geotermalne energije. Međutim, poprilično je zapostavljen. Ipak, Republika Hrvatska se može smatrati predvodnicom energetske tranzicije kada je riječ o geotermalnoj energiji zbog iznadprosječnog geotermalnog potencijala.
Abstract (english)
Geothermal energy is considered part of the Earth's internal energy that reaches the surface in the form of a hot geothermal medium (water or steam) and is suitable for use in its original form or for conversion into other forms of energy. In nature, geothermal energy most often appears in the form of geysers, volcanoes and hot springs. Geothermal energy is thermal energy that is created in the Earth's crust by the slow decay of radioactive elements, exothermic chemical reactions in the Earth's crust, and friction during the movement of tectonic masses. The reserves of this energy are considered almost inexhaustible. The heat in the interior of the Earth is the result of the formation of the planet from dust and gases more than 4 billion years ago, and the radioactive decay of elements in the rocks continuously regenerates this heat, so geothermal energy can be considered a renewable energy source. Out of all the locations in the Republic of Croatia, the Pannonian part has the potential to use geothermal energy. However, it is quite neglected. Nevertheless, the Republic of Croatia can be considered a leader in the energy transition when it comes to geothermal energy due to its above-average geothermal potential.
