The tourist demand refers to the total number of persons taking part in tourist movements, or wanting to participate in tourist movements, in order to use different tourist services in places outside their usual environment in which they live and/or work. Considering the fact that consumption of a tourist product also understands the arrival of tourist demand on the place of realization of that particular tourist product, there are many factors that have influence on behaviour of the tourist demand. This thesis deals with the impact of spreading of COVID - 19 pandemic on tourist demand in the county of Split – Dalmatia. In order to analyse the influence of the greatest health threat in the history of mankind that closed borders and kept the world in quarantine, the information on tourist traffic in the county of Split – Dalmatia in the period before the quarantine are compared with those from the past two years that were directly influenced by the spreding of COVID -19 disease. The tourism statistics show the drastic fall of tourist activities in the year 2020 in the area of Split -Dalmatia county, caused as the direct consequence of COVID -19 disease, whereas in 2021 a certain beginning of recovery was recognized, with a tendence of its continuation in 2022. The experts believe that the return of tourist activity to its pre-pandemic level at the global level is to be expected in the year of 2023.
