The company is a subsystem that depends on the environment in which it operates, and the development of the company's strategy must be based on the results of analysis not only of the market but also of competition in all forms in that market. The key premise of shaping a company’s strategy is based on industry analysis. In this sense, the subject of research of this final paper is the study of the environment on the company and analysis of the response of the economic entity to changes in the environment with the aim of competitive positioning, which is shown in the second part of the work on the example of industrial company Pastor TVA. During analyses, in accordance with the scope of topics and targets, in this paper modern research methods were used wit h the application of appropriate systematic techniques that ensured the reliability of the results. Secondary research methods were used to determine the feasibility of developing and installing the appropriate business strategies and creating competitive advantages of company Pastor in the business market. In order to achieve the goals of the paper, primary research was also used. The primary research methods included qualitative in-depth exploration of concrete industrial business entity. The best known framework for analysis and the analysis of structural features of industries – Five competitive forces model by Michael E. Porter, was used in the empirical part of the paper. The interpretation of the findings enabled owners and managers of Pastor to determine the attraction of industry to which they belong, to measure perceptions of the strength of competitive forces, to identify the existing competitive advantages and key success factors in the further development, to formulate appropriate business strategies and to predict future movements in the corresponding industry.
