The balance of payments is a systematic list of the value of all economic transactions of residents of a country with foreign countries (non-residents) in a certain period (most often a quarter or a year). It is compiled according to the methodology recommended by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and accepted by the European Union. The balance of payments is a general measure of the flow of goods, services, labor and capital between a country and other countries of the world. All transactions between domestic and foreign countries in the balance sheet can be divided into three categories: transactions resulting from trade in goods and services, transfer transactions, and capital and financial transactions. BPM6 stands for the sixth edition of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The manual provides guidelines to member countries for the compilation of balance of payments statistics and the state of international investments. The manual also aims to improve the comparability of data between countries by promoting internationally recognized standards. The balance of payments of the Republic of Croatia is the statistical and documentation basis forby presenting well-founded data that serve to manage the economic policy of the country, defining, planning and performing macroeconomic analyzes and reports.
